WHAT ARE ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
Anti-wrinkle injections or botulinum toxin is a protein produced by a bacterium, clostridium botulinum. It acts as a muscle paralysis by relaxing and restricting the movement of muscles in the treated facial areas, resulting in smoother skin.
The toxin is usually injected in the fine lines or the wrinkles of the upper third of the face e.g. forehead lines, crows feet and frown lines.
As we age, our skin loses elasticity and volume giving way to wrinkles that can make us come across as angry, upset, sad or even older than our age. The anti-wrinkle injection – depending on the number of units injected – replaces the majority of the fine lines and wrinkles with a younger looking face.
It is advisable to start this treatment at an early age, with lower units, whilst the fine lines are less visible. The aim is to maintain the smoothness of the skin whilst keeping the wrinkles to a minimum; in the long term, you will require fewer anti-wrinkle injection treatments as the facial muscles are accustomed to keeping relaxed.
The procedure is very quick and relatively painless. We are happy to use a numbing cream for a more comfortable and completely painless treatment if required by the client. Each treatment procedure takes approximately 15 minutes and results are visible within 2 weeks.
